The rivalry among the four big cell phone service providers from U.S. reached another level and, this time, the little ones, such are T-Mobile and Sprint look like getting an important victory for them and quite of a blow for Verizon and AT&T. The German based carrier, T-Mboile has been arguing that America’s two biggest providers have been charging unfairly high prices for data roaming that artificially kept the price of its services higher than it should normal be.
Verizon protests
So, T-Mobile’s complaint wasn’t in vain as the Federal Communications Commission’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau taught that they are right so it’s very likely that Verizon and AT&T will be forced to charge lower prices for data roaming, fact that will represent an advantage for all smaller cell phone service providers. Of course, Verizon, as market leader on the U.S. is very unpleased with the decision. “It is deeply troubling that the Wireless Bureau has changed a fundamental wireless rule in ways that discourage investment and unfairly advantage one company over others, and has done so without a Commission vote, as required by law”, stated their representatives.
More money for the little ones
T-Mobile’s initiative was also sustained by Sprint, of course, considering that for sure they’ll also like to pay less for roaming fees. All in all as soon as this measure will be implemented, customers will probably get lower bills and also the smaller carriers about we talked before will use some of their potential roaming savings to increase the quality of their networks because it’s obvious that at this moment they still need a lot of improvements comparing to those of the biggest carriers from the United States of America.
