To breakthrough on market with a smartphone generation when you have to compete with iPhone’s and Samsung’s Galaxy looks an almost impossible mission! Still, Amazon prepares for 2016 a new launch. We are talking here about a newer generation of Fire OS Phone. The company wants to give another try after their former model and first launched in 2014 was a total disaster and did not fulfill their expectations by far.
Price error assumed
What didn’t work with the model launched in July 2014? Well, the board says now the pricing wasn’t the proper one so that’s why the potential customers were quite reticent in getting a model. Initially, it cost 449 dollars unlocked and 200 dollars with a two year contract. The disastrous impact on the market determined very quickly the board to reduce the price at 229 dollars unlocked and at only 0.99 dollars with a two years contract. But still, there was no use…
Now, the team of Amazon Fire Phone thinks that solved most of the initial problems and expects that the new Fire Phone which will be launched in 2016 to be a bigger success. "We didn't get the price right. I think people come to expect a great value, and we sort of mismatched expectations. We thought we had it right. But we're also willing to say, 'we missed.' And so we corrected", the board commented back in October after three months from the moment the first phone was placed on the market. And to sustain the idea that they are working at a better version of Amazon, the company made good on its promise to continue supporting the Fire Phone. They just rolled out a hefty package of updates for the smartphones, improving software such as Firefly and the camera application.
