In our attempt to present as many smartphones as possible in detail for you to have more options when you want to make an acquisition, we reached the Oppo R5. A device less popular than the others but which seems to have quite interesting features for smartphones users. Its price of 499 dollars for an unlocked Oppo R5 seem quite affordable, but it also has a big lack that may reduce significant the number of customers which might be interesting in purchasing such a cell phone. Oppo R5 hasn’t LTE bands for two of the biggest operators from the United States, AT&T and T-Mobile.
Characteristics
As dimensions, the Oppo R5 is 5.86 inches long, 2.93 inches width, 0.19 inches thick and approximately 165 grams of weight. This way we realize that the title of the thinnest phones in the world is deserved by the Oppo R5. If you choose to get an unlocked one you should know that the device supports GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz), UMTS (850/900/1900/2100MHz), and LTE (Bands 1, 3, and 7) networks. The Oppo R5 is an unusual device as it packs Qualcomm's octa-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon 615 SoC, paired with 2GB RAM. It eschews Qualcomm's custom Krait chip architecture, instead using ARM's Cortex-A53 design.
Camera and battery duration
Now we only have to speak a bit about its battery and camera which can be considered competitive from our point of view. In a test that involves a YouTube video over HSPA+ with screen brightness set to max, the Oppo R5 battery lasted for 4 hours, 53 minutes, more than the iPhone 6 Plus’ resist, for example. For photos and movies it uses a 13-megapixel Exmor R IMX214 sensor made by Sony, the identical one with those used by other known smartphones from the market, such are OnePlus One and Google Nexus.
