U.S. Cellular, the fifth biggest cell phone network from the United States of America found a way to strongly compete with the giant AT&T, even though, at least in theory, their aims are different. What is this all about? Well, U.S. Cellular launched the OnLook home automation and security platform which is, in the board’s opinion, a great competitor for AT&T’s Digital Life. Platform which is more famous at the moment among cell phone service users even though it seems to have different purposes that OnLook has.
Digital Life functiones in 82 markets
I am saying this because U.S. Cellular seemed more focused on delivering a simple experience to its customers and getting a new revenue stream than on creating a platform for other carriers to use, like it happens in the case of AT&T. At this moment, Digital Life is available in 82 markets from the United States and U.S. Cellular aims also an important expansion, but its board didn’t give yet any details regarding this situation.
Different goal
To support this new service, Settimi, one of the board members of U.S. Cellular gave some details about the new-coming project: "We have a different goal than they do. We wanted to create a wonderful customer experience. We definitely think it's a whole new line of business, but one that is certainly complementary to what we offer today". Apart from all these facts we have also to mention details about the costs in which you might be involved if you want to get this service.
How much you have to pay
So, for a basic plan you have to pay from the start 100 dollars and additional 30 dollars each month. If your option goes to the Advanced Security plan you have to give 50 dollars more at the beginning and after 40 per each month, money for the service adds carbon monoxide and smoke detector. Last but not less important, you can get the Advanced Security + for 200 dollars from the start and a 50 dollars fee every month of the contract, money for which it adds in a smart thermostat, a lamp module and the appliance module.
