U.S. Cellular is known as the fifth major cell phone service carrier from the country and now, in 2015, it works hard in improving more services. First of all, the company is focusing in testing and introducing the full Voice LTE service being decided to leave behind the simple LTE. This will take some time and patience but CEO Ken Meyers sees it very possible for this year. In fact, U.S. Cellular started testing VoLTE, as it is also known, back in 2012, so they have quite experience.

100 million dollars income

Besides this, U.S. Cellular will sell 595 of its cell towers to Vertical Bridge Holdings, transaction which is expected to bring in the company’s budget around 100 million dollars. Even though it looks strange, the sale shouldn’t threaten in any way U.S. Cellular major infrastructure as those cell towers are considered non-strategic. For comparison, they’ll keep the other 4,000 that they have without considering to make any transaction involving those. Why? Because they are considered strategic and want to have full control of them. "As we move through technology transitions, it gives us control over towers and that has strategic value", stated the CEO.

Strategy to win back customers

Last, but not least, the company is aiming to regain the lost customers and to also attract new ones and this is mostly link to some decisions, like introducing the iPhone in U.S. Cellular’s portfolio, a fact revealed by the same Ken Meyers in an official statement: "We learned that price and product are what attracts customers. We learned that when we didn't have the iPhone. We added it to our portfolio and now customers are coming back".
