AT&T and especially one of its most important MVNO, Cricket Wireless, are making new business. Starting this year, the prepaid provider will have the option to deliver to its customers Deezer’s service. The music streaming company based in France made whatever possible to extend itself in the United States of America and so it purchased Muve assets of music from Cricket Wireless. Without being official stated, it looks like the sum for which the business took place is around 100 million dollars.
Muve has 2 million users
Why are we saying that AT&T and Cricket Wireless are deeply involved in this business? Well because their customers can benefit of Deezer now and have some interesting offers to think at. Still, the Muve deal is not a straightforward sale: While Deezer will be migrating Muve user data, specifically playlists and songs, the assets that Deezer is acquiring do not automatically include the Muve customer base, which was last estimated to be over 2 million users, all of whom paid for their service as part of their Cricket tariffs.
6 dollars for Deezer services
For this, Deezer made an agreement with AT&T to offer Cricket LTE customers a 45 days free trial before they can choose if they want to use or not the service of the French company for 6 dollars a month. Some migrations of customers might be possible, if we consider that Muve charges its customers with 45 dollars per month, price in which they also include talk minutes, text and web access besides music services. But if you choose to get the music from Deezer and the other services from Muve, you’ll have to pay only 35 dollars at Muve. So, this might mean a spare of four dollars a month. Not bad we might say.
