U.S. Cellular doesn’t look so popular in the US, comparing to giants such are T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, but their history and coverage keeps them in top. According to the last studies, U.S. Cellular, company founded in 1983, before many other ones, has 4.3 million customers in 426 markets in 26 from all the U.S. states. Half of them! They operate on their own network, without reselling services. Its popularity also seems to be based in all kind of constructive projects that are concentrated in supporting people, especially students from all over the country.
A good example is the one developed between August 11th and September 21st in charity purposes. More precise, teachers can submit projects during this period having a budget between 100 and 1,000 dollars, but to do so they have to register as U.S. Cellular Teacher. What would they do with the money, you might wonder... Well, according to the idea of the parts, the funds can be used for buying art supplies, science lab equipment or technology tools. U.S. Cellular project merged their ideas in this project with donorschoose.org and this is not their first big plan to support education.
The collaboration between the cell phone provider and the charity web site managed during time to fund more than 4,500 classroom projects. Now, as usual, the selected projects from all of the submissions will be announced in October by the Calling All Teachers organization. They awarded, in 2009, two teachers from New Bloomfield Elementary School an amount of 1,112.50 dollars for different classroom projects. It is important to mention that Calling All teachers awarded a half a million dollars for all kind of educational projects from all over the country. And press reports say that ninety from all those projects helped 8,000 students from Missouri schools.
