Biggest Samsung’s rival from South Korea, LG, finished a great year considering its net profit. Financial speaking, 2014 was great for the company and some of the achievements can be linked to the way in which customers received the LG G3, the flagship of the company last year. So, to be more specific, let us say that the total profit of LG was in 2014 of 475 million dollars after shipping a total of 59.1 million smartphones, 24 percent more than it happened in 2013.
Record in the third quarter
From all four quarters, the third was the company’s best from the last five years! Considering they shipped in that period 16.8 million smartphones! Even though it was expected that in the last one of the year the shipping to increase, it only touched 15.5 million units which still meant the second best quarter… The growing mobile business helped the company to gain 55.91 million dollars more comparing to the previous year, which is a nice amount of money.
Big plans for 2015
Unfortunately for them, the profit could have been even higher, if it wasn’t for an important loss which hit the company at the end of the year, of nearly 190 million dollars after closing its plasma TV unit. Still, after the good numbers from the last year, LG now concentrate on ensuring a good 2015 as well and for this, they have some big projects: “LG will concentrate on improving its brand power, operating more efficiently, and focusing on selective key markets,” the company said.
