For a short period of years, tablets were quite popular and the interest for buying them increased as day passed. Suddenly, with the appearance of phablets mostly, things got another turn and the demands for tablets, even though the increase remained. It was small though and the inevitable happened at the end of this year, because in the last quarter of 2014 the tablet shipment fell for the first time in the history. The main reason for this is, as we said, the growing popularity of phablets. Of course, a device which stands between a smartphone and a tablet and gatheres the most important characteristics from both can be a much suitable version.
iPhone 6 Plus became famous
Also, the price difference between a phablet and a tablet isn’t any more so big, facts for which many customers neglected the tablets industry. Don’t know where does this is heading to, but let just talk a bit in numbers of what this means for the market. In Q4 of 2014, only 67 million units were shipped all over the world. The most important loses came for Samsung which lost 24 percent of the total amount of devices sold in the previous quarter. Apple did a better job, but they still had an 18 percent decrease. Luckily for the American company, the situation is compensated a bit by the success met by their newest phablet, iPhone 6 Plus.
