The study’s name is Cisco’s Visual Networking Index (VNI) Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast and it made an average usage per every year which is about to come from 2014 to 2019 and considering the data we should say that high speed data usage increases faster and faster as years are passing. For example, in 2014, 2.5 exabytes of these services were used, which in translation for those of you who know less about this type of measurement is 2.5 billion GB. For this year, the same study says that people will use 4.2 EB. After, in 2016, 6.8 EB, 3.9 extra EB in 2017, 16.1 EB for 2018 and, finally, 24.3 EB for the last year of the study, 2019.
From 4.3 to 5.2 billion people worldwide in five years
Of course, all of you are wondering how can it be possible for the amount of high speed Internet usage to grow like this through mobile phones, but the answers are quite simple, as the population continues growing and also their needs of technology will also grow. So, the cell phone users will increase in five years from 4.3 to 5.2 billion in the world, more devices will be available and LTE networks will become much more common.
